The story of Hub 8

In 2004, as the staff of Jubilee Ministries waited on God together, He promised us a building that looks a bit like the City Hall of Hong Kong Central. On 14th November 2007, when I stepped in my office, God said to me: “Pull up the blinds next to your desk. The building I promised is behind the blinds”. When I lifted the blinds, I saw a huge banner hanging on the wall of the Jun long Hotel, saying “Whole building for sale by auction. ” God said that “It is for Jubilee Ministries, but it’s not for now, and you have to wait patiently.”

At that time, there was a night club and a bar at the 1st and 2nd Floor of the building. God told me that “I shall clean up the whole building for you and renovate it so that you need not to do much when you move into the building”.

The sale by auction failed. Later, Luk Fuk Jewellery acquired the whole building for its head office and turned away all the tenants.

For 10 years, every week, we prayed for the revival of HK churches, for outreach to the poor, discerning the heart and plan of God for this area.

We received the following promises and instructions from God:

Firstly, the whole building is a venue for Churches Without Walls. Different churches and organizations can all use it together. It should be fully utilized, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day nonstop.

Secondly, the building serves all kinds of people: South Asian, Muslims, Elderly, Burmese, refugees, Sikhs, Vietnamese, Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian. It has many kinds of business, as well as gangsters, disadvantaged and marginal people of society, or the people that the church cannot contact, including prostitutes, drug addicts, people of different sexual orientations.

Thirdly, the building unites churches for service to the community, whether they be Charismatics or Evangelicals. The ministries help the rich serve the poor and train God’s people to go into mission.

At the beginning, Luk Fuk Jewellery has no intention to move out or rent to the others. After ten years of prayers, God directed our path and we signed the lease for the whole building on 21st September 2018.

What Hub 8 is for

In 2019, Jubilee Ministries moved to Hub 8. We offered the whole of the 17th Floor for 24/7 prayers for so that people’s heart can be opened for God.

We use 7 floors and the ground floor. Besides the Jubilee School, we have ministries to prostitutes, construction workers, marginalized youth, taxi drivers, those living in subdivided flats, refugees and ethnic minorities. We train the elderly as warriors and set up a gospel snack shop (Bite Delight).

God brought churches or organization with similar visions to move into the building: family counseling, occupational therapy, special education services, single mother ministry, travel agency, business fellowship, and media ministry, and more.

Currently, Hub 8's tenants include people from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Africa, and those served by our Missions Ministry from Nepal, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and other ethnic groups. It truly is a gathering of nations at Hub 8!

Hub's Mural "Jesus' Banquet":
Iconic City Landmark and Tourist Hotspot

On December 10, 2018, while praying for the outer wall of this building, we envisioned creating a mural to display the spirit and blessings of the entire building. The mural, transcending language, touches hearts and inspires people to believe in Jesus. It will become a city landmark, attracting tourists, journalists, and domestic visitors who will "check-in" and take photos.

Through the board's introduction, we contacted Sister Janice, a muralist, who was inspired by God to paint a theme of 'Harmony.' She depicted a long table where people of different races, ages, and needs coexist harmoniously, sharing a banquet with Jesus.

Three years ago, Brother Cassidy Lam Shu Hong envisioned a landmark dedicated to Jesus in Hong Kong. In mid-2019, he connected with Janice's boyfriend, sharing his vision and becoming a driving force behind the project. POAD, an outdoor advertising giant, supported the entire project, covering printing and installation costs. Cassidy funded lighting and maintenance.

God ordained the mural 'Jesus's Banquet' on the outer wall of Hub 8, representing unity and community under the blue sky and white clouds. This mural encourages citizens to accept and appreciate each other, share food, and build a beautiful, vibrant Hong Kong.

Temple Street becomes Jesus Street

More than 20 years ago, Pastor Sam Lai envisioned transforming 'Temple Street into Jesus Street.' He planted a church near Yung Shu Tau, saving drug addicts, sex workers, and triad members, establishing 'Fuk Lam Church.'

Temple Street is notorious for vice and crime, with adult shops, drug paraphernalia, and street dealers. The goal is to eradicate these activities.

When Jesus is lifted up, He will call everyone to Him, transforming Temple Street into Jesus Street.

On December 3, 2023, we hosted a Thanksgiving banquet for 100 people from various countries, including Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, African nations, and India. This event fulfilled the prophecy of Hub 8's mural: people of all nations will gather at the feet of Jesus, and 'Temple Street will become Jesus Street' is just around the corner.
