YOUTH-AT-RISK MINISTRY

“Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd”. (Matt. 9: 35—36)

Target Group: marginal youth

Project Objectives

  1. To establish a network of churches whose members take on evangelizing and mentoring of youth-at-risk
  2. To befriend marginal youth in places where they hang out and free them from drug abuse, the triad and other problems.
  3. To help marginal youth to rejoin society and take up Christ’s mission.

 

Programs

1. Formation of prayer and co-operative networks

  • Holding prayer meetings for youths regularly
  • Linking up churches into a prayer network
  • Encouraging churches to undertake the task of preaching to marginal youth
  • Extending the co-operative network by drawing support from voluntary workers (through recruitment and training)

2. Reaching out to marginal youth in Tin Shui Wai and Tai Kwok Tsui and visiting Band 3 secondary schools in Tin Shui Wai

3. Contact youth-at-risk through parties, meals, and classes in musical instruments, makeup and cookery etc.

4. pastoral care to youngsters and infusing Christian faith into their lives so that they will experience the love of Christ.
