Ministries to the grassroots

Ministry to Construction Workers

Construction workers labor hard to build homes for Hong Kong people, but they are often neglected. In 2000 Jubilee helped to set up a Construction Workers Mission Fellowship to support and train Christians working in the construction industry. In 2005, weekly evangelism programs reached eight construction sites. Workers interested in Christ were invited to a lunch or tea-time session where matters of faith were further explored.

We organize recreational activities, intervene during crises and visit new believers and those interested in the Gospel as part of follow-up. Over the past four years, we have contacted over 15,000 persons, and over 300 people received Christ.

Rahab's Rehab Ministry - a Ministry to Sex Workers

The Rahab's Rehab Ministry provides holistic care and evangelism to female sex workers. We reach out to them through fun gatherings and outings, and have set up a 24-hour counseling hotline to assist those in crises. Those addicted to drugs are referred to drug rehabilitation ministries. Our final goal is to help them leave the sex trade and rejoin society. This involves job placement and setting up new homes. To reach those who are arrested, Jubilee holds religious courses in prisons and penitentiaries and visits sex workers in halfway houses after they are released from prison. We equip and help Christians reach out to prostitutes at their street perches.

New Humanity Ministry

The goal of this ministry is to equip churches and youth pastors to reach out to youth- at-risk and marginal youth. We go to places where the young hang out to care, listen and be a part of their lives. The New Humanity Training Course trains teachers, youth pastors, social workers and our own students in holistic and practical skills. They are taught viable strategies and learn appropriate counseling models.

We network with churches and other Christian organizations to co-sponsor gospel parties for marginal youth in our local communities. During summer vacations, our students all participate in short-term missions to youth.

Ministry to the Elderly

The three-year "Senior-Soldiers for God's Kingdom" training course unites churches of various districts to equip, motivate, and mobilize elderly Christians for intercession and evangelism. Graduates of the course are organized into a "kingdom senior soldiers mission team" to visit the elderly in senior centers, homes and parks. This mission team also takes overseas mission trips in the summer, supports the evangelistic meetings of many churches, and visits poor households in mainland China.

In 2005, "Senior Soldiers for God's Kingdom" training courses were held in seven districts, and a total of 700 people joined these courses.

God Loves the Grassroots Movement

Jubilee Ministries co-ordinates and unites the ministries of various Christian organizations and grassroots churches, helping them develop their potential. We organize retreats for the staff of these organizations, help mobilize their constituents, bringing all into a movement of evangelism in the grassroots.

Partnership with Churches

We liaise with target churches and districts, empowering them through lay leaders training courses, serving as guest speakers, organizing retreats and providing them with interns. We want to see these churches revived, strengthened in worship and prayer. We support these churches' ministry to the grassroots and refer new converts of our ministry to them.

Training Special Task Force for the Grassroots

This course trains Christians to serve grassroots believers already in churches. Its curriculum includes prayer, evangelism in the grassroots, practical training and anointed camp meetings.

Publications and Multimedia Ministry

We have written and compiled course materials and reference materials suitable for use in Southeast Asia and on the mainland. We have also published evangelistic tools for use with grassroots people.
