Ministry to the Elderly

Visions

  1. By 2033, 1 in 3 Hong Kong citizens are of the age of 60 or above. Most have yet to believe in Jesus.
  2. Elderly believers are assets to the church, not burdens for the pastors. They have the time and the wisdom to be “Senior Soldiers for God’s Kingdom”

Objectives

  1. Graduates of the “Senior Soldiers for God’s Kingdom” course are banded together to form Kingdom Senior Soldiers Mission Teams. Team members encourage each other spiritually. Our staff trains them to use God’s gifts and also lead them in outreach to other senior citizens. These elderly Christians become great helpers to pastors and churches.
  2. They are sent out to bless the community :
    (a) They help churches evangelize the elderly in their district.
    (b) They run Gospel shows, visit senior citizens’ homes or hospitals
    .

Activities

  1. Monthly Mission Team Gatherings give mutual support, build relations, enhance gifts, fan evangelistic fervor and impart power.
  2. These activities and unceasing prayers build their confidence in leading meetings, reaching new friends.
  3. Evangelism and service
    (a) Regular Evangelistic Activities: visits to elderly homes, preaching in parks, Chinese opera Gospel presentations, teachings on the Beatitudes.
    (b) Special Events: Chinese opera Evangelistic Teams, outings, overseas mission trips.

Prayer cards on the Eight Beatitudes
The elderly often complain that they do not know how to pray. These cards help them get started. The cards are composed with the eight basic needs of the elderly in mind. Non-Christians experience God’s help through these prayers, facilitating faith in Jesus. These prayers also build the faith of new Christians. For more effective results, the content of the cards can be used in meetings. Each booklet of prayer cards costs $5.
