Ministry Among Hair Stylists

The Challenge

  1. There are thousands of hair salons in Hong Kong and more than 20,000 hair stylists and technicians. In addition, there are self-employed hair stylists and hair product salespersons.
  2. Generally speaking, they haven’t received a high level of education.
  3. Working locations are widely distributed in Hong Kong. They have long working hours, weekend duty is required. They are especially busy during Christmas and before Lunar New Year. No regular rest days can be scheduled.
  4. Due to the boring nature of the job, a comparatively high income and spending power, people in the industry seek exciting entertainment after work. They are promiscuous, addicted to drugs and gambling.

Christianity in the Industry

  1. More than 65 Christians have been contacted. (The estimated number of Christians is more than 100.)
  2. It is not easy for them to go to church after they have received Christ. Follow-up meetings on Monday or Tuesday evenings after work would be more convenient for them.

      Vision for this Group

    1. Gather the believers together for mutual support and help.
    2. Help believers to share the Gospel with fellow workers and customers in the industry.
    3. Train believers on how to serve God and build churches without walls.
    4. To encourage believers to take part in mission overseas.
